Benefits

IEEE Conferences

IEEE sponsors more than 1,600 annual conferences and meetings worldwide. IEEE is also highly involved in the technical program development of numerous events including trade events, training workshops, job fairs, and other programs. IEEE produces cutting-edge conference publications in various technology areas that are recognized by academia and industry worldwide. Articles submitted for publication follow a paper selection process and are peer-reviewed before they are published.

IEEE offers a wide range of learning and career-enhancement opportunities within the engineering sciences, research, and other technology areas. The goal of these programs is to ensure the growth of skill and knowledge among professionals and to foster individual commitment to continuing education among IEEE members, the engineering and scientific community, and the general public.

Earn IEEE Certificates : As rapid changes in technology compel engineers to update their technical knowledge, many engineers are seeking training programs offering continuing education units and professional development hours. Learn how education at IEEE can help you accomplish your goals with the IEEE Certificates Program.

IEEE Awards

Through its awards program, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers recognizes contributions that advance the fields of interest to the IEEE. For over a century, IEEE has sponsored various programs to honor achievements in education, industry, research, and service. These awards and recognitions each have a unique mission and criteria and offer the opportunity to praise distinguished colleagues, dedicated teachers, and corporate leaders who have made a lasting impact on humanity, technology, and the profession. The IEEE Medals and IEEE Technical Field Awards are institution-level awards. They are considered more prestigious than IEEE Society level awards and are administered by IEEE Awards Board. Each year, the IEEE Board of Directors approved the winners of these prestigious medals and awards at their annual board meeting. An IEEE Honors Ceremony is organized and held in New York each year to present the medals and awards to the recipients.

IEEE Foundation and Humanitarian

The IEEE Foundation is a charitable foundation established in 1973 to support and promote technology education, innovation and excellence. It is incorporated separately from the IEEE, although it has a close relationship to it. Members of the Board of Directors of the foundation are required to be active members of IEEE, and one third of them must be current or former members of the IEEE Board of Directors.

Initially, the IEEE Foundation’s role was to accept and administer donations for the IEEE Awards program, but donations increased beyond what was necessary for this purpose, and the scope was broadened. In addition to soliciting and administering unrestricted funds, the foundation also administers donor-designated funds supporting particular educational, humanitarian, historical preservation, and peer recognition programs of the IEEE. As of the end of 2014, the foundation’s total assets were nearly $45 million, split equally between unrestricted and donor-designated funds.

The work of IEEE members and volunteers can improve the standard of living of underserved populations, and inspire the next generation to do the same.

Publications and Services

The publications of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers publications (IEEE) constitute around 30% of the world literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields, publishing well over 100 peer-reviewed journals. The content in these journals as well as the content from several hundred annual conferences are available in the IEEE’s online digital library. The IEEE also publishes more than 750 conference proceedings every year. In addition, the IEEE Standards Association maintains over 1,300 standards in engineering.

Some of the journals are published in association with other societies, like the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Optical Society (OSA), and the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS).
