Board members of IEEE ASU had an amazing opportunity to attend the annual IEEE Rising Stars Conference at Las Vegas, Nevada. The 3-day conference kicked-off on 4th January 2019 at 1pm in Tropicana.

The first event on the program agenda was a workshop on ‘Resume Building & Job Search’ and a ‘Cyber Security’ competition. For the next two days of the conference, various keynotes and breakout sessions were scheduled. The breakout sessions were for both technical and professional development of the attendees. It was amazing to hear about the progress made by AMD and NVIDIA to develop next generation computing machines with the help of machine learning and artificial intelligence.

The conference offered a good opportunity to interact with the IEEE Leadership, young professionals and students of various IEEE student branches from different universities. Apart from region 6, there were representatives from other IEEE regions as well. The major highlight of the conference was the panel discussion titled “The Next Big Thing”, in which the panelist discussed about the technologies of the future and how are they going to impact the job markets and engineering trends. The conference networking helped to establish a sense of collaboration with like-minded individuals.

We would like to thank IEEE Phoenix Section, ASU Fulton Student Organization (FSO) and the Graduate Student & Professional Association (GPSA) for providing the necessary funds to sponsor our conference travel, lodging and registration. The IEEE Rising Stars conference was very well organized and was beyond expectations. Congratulations to the conference organizing team for flawlessly planning all the sessions and catering the development of IEEE members around the globe.
