How was everyone’s winter break? We hope it was wonderful and that you all got some well-deserved rest from the hectic semester. While we were lounging around, some of our Board Members kept busy over the break by attending the annual IEEE Rising Stars Conference and CES 2020 in Las Vegas! The sixth annual IEEE Rising Stars Conference was held at the Tropicana in Las Vegas, from January 3-5, 2020. With a program focused on technical and professional development, Rising Stars is the place to be for students, young professionals and industry leaders. The event included competitions, workshops, and resume reviews. There were also over 30 insightful keynote speakers at the event from companies including Walt Disney Imagineering, Intel, AWS, Microsoft, and On Semiconductor. The IEEE Rising Stars Conference is surely an event IEEE members should experience!

Following the conference was the CES (Consumer Electronics Show), which is an annual trade show held in Las Vegas, Nevada. It features cutting edge technology from the electronics industry’s biggest players to upcoming startups. It’s a grand and exciting event that attracts people from all over the world. According to CES’s website, “CES® is the most influential tech event in the world — the proving ground for breakthrough technologies and global innovators. This is where the world’s biggest brands do business and meet new partners, and the sharpest innovators hit the stage.” If you’re a fan of the latest electronics, this is definitely the place to be. It looks like the members really enjoyed their CES experience!
