On 6th April 2019, the IEEE Phoenix Section hosted the Annual Banquet at the Marriott Hotel, Phoenix, to recognize the contribution of IEEE members, professors, industry professionals, companies and researchers. IEEE ASU emerged as the winners of the ‘Outstanding Large Student Branch Award’ for the 3rd consecutive year. The award recognizes the student branch for outstanding technical activities, services and overall professional development of all student members. The award is a result of sincere leadership by all IEEE ASU board members and support of all engineering students at the university. The student branch hosted more than 16 technical and professional workshops, seminars that involved industry speakers during the 2018-19 academic year.

Additionally, IEEE ASU received 2 other awards at the banquet. The faculty advisor of the student branch, Dr. Cihan Tepedelenlioglu received the award for ‘Outstanding Educator’, for research contributions in Sensor Localization and OFDM Systems. The student branch Chair, Karan Kantharia received the Student Scholarship award (Atluri award) for excellent leadership and contributions towards IEEE as an active student member. The current academic year 2018-19 has been a very successful year for the student branch as it has won various accolades at the university and regional level. The student branch appreciates the continuous support provided by the staff at the Fulton Student Engagement Office, Fulton Student Council (FSC) and fellow Fulton Student Organizations (FSO).
